I just bought this BMW today and I kind of like it. The seller was a very cool guy in the music business. It hadn't run for a few months but we finally kicked her to life and she runs good. The big nobby tires are a bit different but when I rode it on the dirt rode at the ranch they were tops. This thing looks like you would ride it through the Zombie wars. Not sure if I can keep it, it is a 1958 from my birth year but ............................................

The Garage Company
I stopped by the Garage Company in Inglewood on the way home from picking up the little R50 in Studio City. The place is amazing and is a mecca for any gearhead. There are so many motorcycles and parts that your head is spinning after a few minutes, some are greasy rag and some are immaculate. Yoshi was kind enough to stop what he was doing and talk to me about Harley K models and KR's. He is a very knowlegable person who has a lot of experience.
If you are in the area stop in, you'll be glad you you did. While you're there buy something to help keep places like this alive...they are getting rare.

BMW Dillema
I am in a dilemma with the BMW R50, the tires are too big to install the original fenders that came with the bike. I like the big tire look but installing a rear fender is trickier than it would seem. The R50 was designed so well that it is difficult to improve. I am cutting up old fenders trying to find something I like...no I'm not cutting up BMW fenders !

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZombie Killer BMW R50 For Sale
I recently bought this bike and am reluctantly selling it. I admit it's a bit rough but it is a bike that can be ridden until and if you restore. Asking price is $6500.00
This is my Zombie Killer BMW R50, it's the kind of bike you could ride through anything These BMW R50's are tough and reliable. They really are one of the finest motorcycles ever built. The R50 is not as fast as it's bigger siblings but it's smooth. I don't know a whole lot about this bike other than it has fairly low miles at a bit over 34,000 and it's a complete good running motorcycle. The guy I bought it from wanted a different look so he put large knobby tires on it which do change it quite a bit from stock. The original fenders are included but will not fit with these tires so I put an old British fender on it. This is the perfect bike for kicking around the big city or ramble through the country The tail light is not hooked up but I will try to get it done before it is picked up, it's also missing a headlight bulb. It's a good restoration project that you can enjoy until you get around to rebuilding it. The inside of the tank still has the Red Cote and is clean. This is a matching number motorcycle with a solo gear ratio It comes with a clean Nevada title I will sell anywhere in the world but I do charge extra to crate it. The bike will have to be picked up here in Perris. California, USA by your shipper. I will assist in any way reasonably possible with shipping. ALL shipping costs and arrangements are up to the buyer. I will take a $500 non-refundable deposit but the balance must be paid by wire transfer or cash. Any questions call me @951-992-9839 |

I picked up this nice example of a Suzuki GSX-R to get a little experience with them. The styling on these early bikes is spot on ! 1991 Suzuki 750 GSX-R I am looking for a very clean example to hang on to, I prefer the 1980's bikes Has fairly low miles for a 27 year old bike at 27,700 Starts and runs good with new battery, I have not ridden it Has a brand new set of Mikuni flatside racing carbs, I suspect they need to be dialed in a bit more. Comes with original carbs. The Mikuni carbs are expensive, look them up Has new rotors and pads Has new Dunlop tires, you can still see the nubs Yoshimura can New rear chain The bike isn't perfect but it's pretty nice for a 27 year old motorcycle Has clean clear California title in non-op status $6200.00 You can call me @ 951-992-9839 |

Serendipity ...................
I was standing outside my dry cleansers when I noticed a BMW R51 go by on the adjacent street. It stopped at the light and I was awestruck....The R51 is my all time favorite motorcycle and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I got home and the Motorcycle Classics magazine was in my mailbox and there was the exact same bike I had just seen a few hours earlier. Talk about serendipity !
It turns out that the owner lives a few blocks from where I was standing
Below is a short excerpt from Motorcycle Classics, you'll have to get the magazine to read the whole story...........................

"Imagine if you will that it's April 12, 1939. You're in Berlin, Germany, standing outside a building known as the SS Hauptamt, the headquarters of the Third Reich's Schutzstaffel, an organization more familiarly known as the treacherous SS.
Nearby, a delivery truck rolls to a stop in front of the building. Strapped to the truck's flatbed is the very 1939 BMW R51 featured here. Officially, the bike bears frame number 509728 and engine number 504413, signifying that it was manufactured only a few weeks before, on March 24, 1939, to be exact. As the sleek bike is ceremoniously rolled off the truck and onto the cold, hard pavement, an SS officer signs a document confirming the bike's delivery. The BMW is now part of the Schutzstaffel's motor pool, and will eventually have a role of sorts, perhaps transporting SS couriers or even ranking SS officers from one station to the next as the Third Reich's vast military juggernaut begins its deadly sweep across Europe."
